Fire on Bram Force Extinguished After 12-Hour Effort
A fire erupted on the anchor-handling vessel Bram Force on January 8 while it was operating in the Campos Basin. After 12 hours of intense firefighting, the blaze was successfully extinguished, and all crew members were safely rescued.
Initial reports indicate that the fire started in the engine room of the Bram Force, though the exact cause remains under investigation. All crew members were rescued by a nearby Maersk vessel, while tugboats were mobilized to assist in the firefighting operation.
The Brazilian Navy later confirmed that the fire was extinguished after prolonged efforts and that the vessel would be towed to the Port of Açu for further assessment. Additionally, the Navy announced that an administrative inquiry would be launched to determine the cause of the fire.
The Bram Force, a Brazilian-registered anchor-handling vessel built in 2017, measures 93.6 meters in length with a beam of 21.9 meters and has a gross tonnage of 7,539.
