BP Chairman Helge Lund to Step Down by 2026

Helge Lund, chairman of UK energy giant BP, has announced plans to step down from his role in the coming years, with a transition expected to take place by 2026.
BP stated that Lund will work closely with the board of directors to ensure a smooth and structured handover to the next chair. The succession process will be overseen by senior independent director Amanda Blanc.
Throughout this transition, the board will maintain its focus on supporting management in executing BP’s refreshed strategy and delivering on its long-term goals.
“Having fundamentally reset our strategy, BP’s focus now is on delivering the strategy at pace, improving performance and growing shareholder value. Now is the right time to start the process of finding my successor and enabling an orderly and seamless handover,” Lund said.
He added that both he and the board remain committed to supporting CEO Murray Auchincloss and his leadership team in achieving the company’s strategic and financial ambitions.
