On September 30, 2024, the AIDAprima marked its 150th arrival in Rotterdam, making it the most frequent cruise ship visitor to the city over the last eight years, according to a press release.

Since its first stop on April 19, 2016, the vessel has brought approximately 550,000 guests to Rotterdam and the surrounding areas.

The AIDAprima currently calls at the port every other Thursday, offering passengers opportunities to explore popular attractions such as Rotterdam City Center, Markthal, Depot Boijmans van Beuningen, Spido, Splashtours, and the city's scenic panoramic tram.

In partnership with the local cruise port, residents of Rotterdam have been invited onboard to experience the ship firsthand. This initiative is designed to highlight existing environmental practices and to discuss future plans, including a decarbonization roadmap, environmental technology adoption, and measures to improve energy efficiency and conserve resources.

“As the cruise industry continues to grow, it’s vital for cruise lines, ports and destination stakeholders to discuss and identify challenges and work together on best practices and solutions that already are in place and those that can be applied in practice now and for years to come,” said AIDAprima’s captain, Falk Bleckert.

In December 2022, the AIDAprima became the first cruise ship to refuel with 100 percent biofuel in Rotterdam, partnering with GoodFuels, a biofuel innovator.

On September 5, 2024, the ship again made strides in sustainability, using 100 percent renewable Bio Marine Fuel from VARO Energy as part of a pilot project aimed at testing the fuel’s performance during routine operations.
