A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew successfully airlifted a 9-year-old girl from a cruise ship 170 miles off the coast of Galveston, Texas, on Monday, officials confirmed.

The rescue team from U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Houston responded to a medical emergency on board the vessel, transporting the child to UTMB Health - University of Texas Hospital in Galveston for further treatment. While the nature of her medical condition has not been disclosed, she was reported to be in stable condition.

Although the Coast Guard did not officially name the ship, a photo shared by the 8th District Heartland on X featured a Disney cruise ship. Based on available information and the Coast Guard’s image, the vessel involved in the rescue was identified as Disney Magic, which had departed Galveston on March 2 for a four-day Western Caribbean cruise.

Authorities have not provided further details about the incident, but the swift response by the Coast Guard ensured the young passenger received prompt medical attention.
