$53M Renovation Budget for Port of Galveston Cruise Terminal

The Galveston Wharves has been awarded the 2024 Landmark Award by the Houston Business Journal (HBJ) for its $53 million renovation and expansion of Cruise Terminal 25.

The port clinched the top spot in the publication’s Special Projects category, which celebrates outstanding real estate projects across the greater Houston area, according to a port statement. The award ceremony took place in Houston on April 11, drawing over 500 participants.

Completed in 2023, the renovation included updates to the berth and mooring facilities, the addition of a second boarding bridge, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility compliant with new federal regulations, and a complete interior redesign.

Key partners in the Terminal project included tenant Carnival Cruise Line, general contractor Hensel Phelps, architect Bermello Ajamil & Partners, and Texas Gulf Construction Co.
