On April 2, a collision took place between two Netherlands-flagged inland vessels at the Kreekrak Locks in Zeeland, close to the Dutch-Belgian border.

The incident occurred around 2:45 PM local time, when the inland tanker Nicky was struck amidships by the bow of the inland freighter Volturno.

The impact left a gash above the waterline on Nicky's port side, while Volturno sustained visible damage to its bow.

Fortunately, no injuries or pollution were reported as a result of the collision.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what led to the incident.

After the accident, Nicky remained moored near the lock for inspection, while Volturno proceeded to Antwerp, where it has since docked.
