On 4th March, a maritime incident occurred northwest of Tromsø when the cargo ship Errikos suffered a power failure, leaving it adrift without propulsion. The vessel was en route from Murmansk Port, Russia, when it lost power off the Norwegian coast.

In response, the VTS Nor Maritime Traffic Center in Vardø dispatched a Coast Guard vessel and a tugboat to assist the stranded ship.

Authorities confirmed that the bulk carrier is not carrying any hazardous cargo, and there is no immediate environmental threat. Plans are in place to tow the vessel to shore near Vannvag for further assessment.

Built in 2014, Errikos sails under the Marshall Islands flag. The ship has a carrying capacity of 57,000 tonnes, with an overall length of 190 meters and a width of 32 meters.
