National Geographic-Lindblad Unveils Iceland to Japan Voyage

National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions has introduced its most extensive expedition yet, the 69-day journey titled “Epic Northwest Passage: From Iceland to Japan.”

Starting in Iceland, this extraordinary voyage offers a mix of Viking heritage, Arctic adventures, and Japanese culture. The route takes guests through Iceland and Greenland’s stunning fjords, across the Northwest Passage from Greenland to Alaska, then through the remote Aleutian Islands, before finally reaching Japan. 

Along the way, travelers will encounter incredible wildlife, pristine landscapes, and a blend of cultural experiences, from the Arctic wilderness to Japan’s mix of ancient traditions and modern advancements.

Key itinerary highlights include:

  • Ilulissat Icefjord in Greenland: Guests will navigate through massive icebergs in this UNESCO World Heritage site, witnessing the beauty of the Arctic.
  • Samurai Districts in Japan: Visitors will explore historic samurai castles and districts in Matsue and Uwajima, offering a glimpse into Japan’s feudal past.
  • Alaska’s Wildlife: In the Pribilof and Aleutian Islands, guests will observe diverse wildlife, including whiskered auklets, northern fur seals, Steller’s sea eagles, and brown bears.
