Tankers Hafnia Nile and Ceres I on Fire Off Singapore Coast

This morning, two tankers, Hafnia Nile and Ceres I, caught fire off the coast of Singapore. AIS data indicates a collision in the Singapore Strait, approximately 55 km northeast of Pedra Branca, within Singapore's Maritime Search and Rescue area.

Singaporean authorities have requested assistance from passing ships for the search and rescue operation.

Details about the incident and the causes of the fires on both ships are currently unknown, as is the number of crew members on board.

According to a post on RSAF's Facebook page, two injured crew members were flown to Singapore by the RSAF helicopter Rescue 10. They were taken to Singapore General Hospital for further medical treatment.

The Hafnia Nile, with a carrying capacity of 74,189 tonnes, is operated by Singapore-based Hafnia, part of the BW Group, and managed by BW Fleet Management. MarineTraffic data shows the vessel was laden and had departed from Singapore Anchorage on July 18. It was scheduled to arrive in Kashima, Japan, on July 27, transporting Naphtha.
