Maritime claims expert WK Webster has announced that the Lady Zehra, a general cargo ship, became grounded during docking maneuvers on March 18, 2024, at the Port of Alexandria.

The ship has been stuck in shallow waters since the occurrence. The incident happened at approximately 15:10 UTC as Lady Zehra was trying to dock at Alexandria Port in Egypt.

A week after the incident, efforts to dislodge the vessel have not yet started, likely due to ongoing discussions between the ship's operators and Egyptian officials.

There is speculation that the delay in rescue operations might be related to the Egyptian authorities demanding a significant payment for the salvage operations, a condition that the ship's owners may be struggling to meet.

The Lady Zehra, registered under the Panamanian flag, is 171.59 meters long (LOA) with a beam of 27 meters.
