Small Container Increase in June for Port of Melbourne

The Port of Melbourne handled 264,000 TEUs in June, marking a 2.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
The Australian port noted an uptick in full container imports (excluding Bass Strait) for June 2024, with significant increases in furniture, domestic appliances, and timber compared to last year.
Full container exports (excluding Bass Strait) also saw growth, with higher volumes of timber, hay, chaff & fodder, barley, and meats. However, the total movement of empty containers in Melbourne decreased by 3.3% year-on-year in June.
