Reports say that on May 26th a Russian cargo ship, the Zelenga, collided with a railway bridge while navigating the Don River in Rostov-on-Don.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, the vessel experienced a steering failure as it attempted to pass beneath the elevated section of the bridge, resulting in a collision.

Images and videos reveal that the central part of the bridge was raised at the time. Despite this, the vessel veered off course due to the malfunction and struck a fixed section of the bridge, causing significant damage.

Fortunately, there were no scheduled train crossings that day, and no injuries were reported.

Ukrainian media highlighted the bridge's strategic importance for transporting supplies to Crimea.

Zelenga, a general cargo ship with a deadweight tonnage of 1755, was built in 1978 and sails under the Russian flag. The vessel departed from Azov, Russia, on April 25 and was due to arrive in Rostov-on-Don on May 21.
