Royal Caribbean International has made changes to several ship itineraries in response to the impending Hurricane Milton.

“Along with our Chief Meteorologist, Craig Setzer, we’re closely monitoring Tropical Storm Milton, expected to become a powerful hurricane as it crosses the Gulf of Mexico, reaching the west coast of Florida on Wednesday,” the company shared in a statement to passengers aboard the Wonder of the Seas.

“To safely avoid the storm and its widespread impacts, along with our Captain, we decided to skip our visits to Roatan, Honduras, and Costa Maya, Mexico,” Royal Caribbean added.

The Wonder of the Seas, offering a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise, set sail from Port Canaveral on October 6, 2024. While the ship’s original schedule also included stops in Cozumel, Mexico, and Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas, those visits will proceed as planned.

To “make up for the changes,” Royal Caribbean has added a stop in Falmouth, Jamaica, to the ship’s itinerary.

“We’re terribly sorry for the last-minute change caused by weather – your safety is our top priority. Please know that being onboard is one of the safest places because our ship can quickly move out of the way of any inclement weather,” the company reassured guests.

Several other ships in the fleet also experienced itinerary adjustments. For instance, the Harmony of the Seas will no longer visit Roatán, Honduras, and has rescheduled its visits to Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico.

The Utopia of the Seas, which is on a short cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral, has switched its stops between Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Originally set for a seven-night cruise to the Bahamas and Florida from Cape Liberty, the Symphony of the Seas has been redirected to the Caribbean. Instead of visiting Nassau, CocoCay, and Port Canaveral, it will now call at Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, and Royal Caribbean’s private destination, Labadee, in Haiti.

The Independence of the Seas, sailing on a five-night trip from Miami, will no longer stop in Cozumel, Mexico, and will instead visit Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

Lastly, the Grandeur of the Seas has seen its itinerary shifted from the Western Caribbean to the Bahamas, replacing scheduled stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya with a visit to Nassau.
