Oman Reports Capsizing of Product Tanker Prestige Falcon

On Tuesday, July 16, Oman's Maritime Security Centre announced that the product tanker Prestige Falcon had capsized 25 nautical miles southwest of Ras Madrakah, Oman.

According to the Maritime Security Centre, all 16 crew members of the Prestige Falcon are missing. The crew consists of 13 members from India and three from Sri Lanka.

In response, Omani authorities have initiated a search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate the missing crew. The search efforts are currently ongoing.

The Oman Maritime Security Centre reported that the vessel is submerged and inverted, but the exact status of the tanker remains unknown. Initial reports have not indicated any oil leakage.

Prestige Falcon is a Comoros-registered oil product tanker measuring 117 meters in length. Marine Traffic data indicates that the vessel departed from Hamriya Port, UAE, on July 9 and was scheduled to arrive at Aden Port, Yemen, on July 18.
