Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that the Norwegian Star will be redeployed to the Caribbean for the 2025-26 winter season. This follows the recent cancellation of all previously planned South America and Antarctica sailings for the ship during that period.

“The Norwegian Star will be redeployed and will soon offer exciting trans-Atlantic voyages sailing across the Atlantic Ocean to explore historic and diverse destinations, as well as itineraries to the Bahamas and Southern Caribbean,” the company shared in a statement.

Describing the new routes as “an ideal mix of cultural discovery and tropical island adventures,” Norwegian Cruise Line noted that itineraries will be available for booking starting November 29, 2024. The ship’s homeport for these voyages has not yet been announced.

Previously, the Norwegian Star was scheduled to operate South America cruises between November 20, 2025, and April 14, 2026, including departures from Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires for 14- to 17-night itineraries featuring scenic cruising in Antarctica.

In addition to the Norwegian Star, three other Norwegian Cruise Line ships—the Norwegian Jewel, Norwegian Dawn, and Norwegian Jade—have also had most of their winter 2025-26 schedules cancelled. These vessels were originally planned to sail itineraries in Africa, the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean, and Central America.

Guests affected by these cancellations will receive full refunds, Norwegian confirmed. Additionally, impacted passengers will be offered a 10% Future Cruise Credit (FCC) applicable to any published sailing through December 31, 2026.
