On Monday, July 1, the Nigerian Customs Service displayed illegal weapons seized from a concealed shipping container that arrived from Turkey at the Port of Onne, Nigeria.

The weapons were uncovered after Nigerian authorities received a tip-off and tracked the container until it reached Onne Port. On June 21, they intercepted the container at the port's private terminal. A search operation revealed weapons hidden within items such as furniture, doors, leather bags, and plumbing fittings.

During the search, authorities confiscated 844 firearms, including rifles and shotguns, along with approximately 112,500 rounds of ammunition. However, they did not disclose the identity of the vessel that transported the container.

Earlier this year, in January, the Nigerian National Drug Law Enforcement Agency intercepted a shipment of arms along with 1,274 packets of cocaine and other drugs at the Port of Lagos. Two months later, in mid-March, Nigerian customs, during a routine inspection of imported goods at the same port, discovered more arms and weapons.
