On July 31, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported that the vessel MV MIROLA 1 had run aground in Philippine waters.

In response, the PCG, in collaboration with the Provisional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Bataan, conducted aerial surveillance using drones to monitor the situation near Sitio Quiapo, Barangay Biaan, Bataan, and Mariveles.

During the surveillance, small patches of oil and a faint diesel odor were detected in the area. Authorities collected water samples for analysis to assess the extent of potential contamination and to understand the environmental impact.

The Philippine Coast Guard and PDRRMO are actively managing the situation and taking measures to contain any pollutants that may arise from the incident.
