MSC Talia F Towed to Safety After Engine Failure Near Spain

The Portugal-registered container ship MSC Talia F suffered an engine failure on April 19th while sailing approximately eight nautical miles east-northeast of Punta Melenara, Spain.
Carrying a cargo of containers, including some with hazardous materials, the vessel began drifting southward at roughly two knots. The situation was made more challenging by rough sea conditions, with winds from the northeast reaching 25–30 knots and waves up to two meters high.
Spain’s maritime rescue agency, Salvamento Marítimo, responded swiftly by deploying the tug Heroínas de Sálvora. The tug successfully reached the MSC Talia F, secured it, and towed the vessel to the Port of Las Palmas for inspection and evaluation.
After receiving clearance, MSC Talia F resumed its journey on April 21 and is expected to reach its next destination, Nouakchott in Mauritania, by April 23.
