On January 21, a collision occurred between the bulk carrier Shandong Mission and the barge TB Sinhin 5 near northern Horsburgh, close to Indonesia's territorial waters.

According to the Vessel Traffic System (VTS) in Batam, the incident happened at approximately 9:46 a.m. local time. The Shandong Mission was traveling from Singapore to Australia when it collided with the TB Sinhin 5, en route from Port Klang to Kota Kinabalu.

The Shandong Mission sustained minor damage to its starboard bow, but there were no injuries or leaks reported. The TB Sinhin 5, however, experienced damage to its portside hull, which caused a 10°–15° tilt and resulted in some white brick cargo falling into the sea. No hazardous materials were involved in the incident.

By 11:59 a.m. local time, TB Sinhin 5 altered its course, returning to Johor with a 150-meter towing line to maintain stability. Shortly after, at 12:19 p.m., the bulk carrier was inspected and cleared to resume its journey.

Indonesian maritime authorities, including VTS Batam, the Tanjung Uban PLP Base, and the Tanjung Uban Port Authority, coordinated efforts to ensure maritime safety. No injuries or environmental hazards were reported during the incident.
