Grimaldi Group is boosting its global reach by integrating India into its maritime network. Starting this month, the company will launch a regular service with two monthly departures from Europe to the Indian subcontinent, further cementing its foothold in the Asian market.

The new route will make stops at key ports in Northern Europe and the Iberian Peninsula, following the itinerary: Southampton – Antwerp – Bremerhaven – Setubal/Vigo – Mumbai.

After arriving in India, the vessels will continue onward to the Far East, calling at ports in Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and China. Additionally, the service will offer a monthly connection between India and major Persian Gulf ports, including those in Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.

The first vessel scheduled to reach Mumbai on 20 February will be the PCTC Grande California—a modern, versatile ship delivered less than four years ago, boasting a capacity of roughly 7,800 CEU (Car Equivalent Units) or approximately 5,000 linear metres of rolling cargo and around 2,800 CEU.

A fleet of seven sister car carrier vessels will operate on this new service to India, ensuring ample capacity to meet the growing demand for high-quality maritime transport on the route.

As part of its ongoing expansion in Asia, the Grimaldi Group is also considering further strengthening its presence in India by adding stops at other strategically important ports across the country.
