On October 30, the Turkey-flagged chemical/products tanker Global Lake experienced engine failure while navigating the Canakkale Strait near Akbas. The vessel was subsequently towed to Sevketiye Anchorage for repairs.
The Global Lake was traveling in ballast from Samsun to Aliaga when it encountered a main engine failure, leaving it unable to restart. After requesting assistance, the Canakkale Ship Traffic Services Centre dispatched the tugboats Kurtarma 3 and Kurtarma 4.
The Kurtarma 3 towed the vessel to Sevketiye Anchorage, while Kurtarma 4 provided escort support.
The Global Lake, registered under the Turkish flag, measures 112.70 meters in length, 17.6 meters in width, and has a gross tonnage of 5,424.
