George Alexandratos has been appointed as the new president of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.

Currently the general manager of Apollonia Lines, Alexandratos succeeds George Pateras, who has served as the head of the organization since 2016.

Previously the vice president of the chamber, Alexandratos now passes that role to George Gabriel, a director at Golden Union Shipping.

In response to his appointment, Alexandratos stated: “I would like to thank the shipping community for the trust they showed in me by electing me as the new president, as well as the executives for their valuable assistance in the daily requirements of the organisation. I would also like to express my deep gratitude, on behalf of the entire NEE family, as well as my own, to the outgoing president for nine consecutive years, Dr Georgios D Pateras, for his valuable contribution and his unparalleled ethos, elements which were decisive for the course of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping.”

The role runs in Alexandratos’ family, as his late father, Spyros Alexandratos, served as president of the chamber from 2000 until his untimely passing in 2004 at the age of 57.
