Chinese shipowner Fujian Guohang Ocean Shipping is solidifying its commitment to methanol-ready kamsarmax newbuilds at Wuhu Shipyard. The Beijing Stock Exchange-listed company has exercised options for four additional 89,000 dwt vessels, bringing its total order at the shipyard to eight units.

Last year, Fujian Guohang initially secured newbuilding slots for up to 10 vessels at Wuhu, agreeing on a deal that involved four firm orders priced at around $36.5 million each, with deliveries planned between 2025 and 2026, and options for six more ships.

In addition to these kamsarmax orders, the company continued its fleet expansion this year by returning to Jiangsu Haitong Offshore Engineering Equipment to commission two 63,500 dwt ultramax bulkers. This follows the panamax bulker series it had previously ordered from the same yard.

Fujian Guohang’s current fleet consists of 10 owned bulk carriers, with 17 newbuild projects in progress, following the latest option confirmations. The company is currently negotiating final contract terms with the shipyard, and once completed, the new vessels will be transferred to its four shipowning subsidiaries.
