A fuel spill at Taiwan’s Keelung port on March 16 led to the release of approximately 100 liters of fuel, contaminating several vessels and triggering cleanup efforts.

The incident occurred around 5:40 PM local time during a bunkering operation for the vessel Kanway Global, when fuel leaked during a connection procedure. The spill affected multiple ships, including three pilot boats, which were temporarily cleaned using pressure washers.

To contain the spill and minimize environmental impact, oil booms and absorbent materials were deployed. The affected ships—TS Pusan, TS Surabaya, and YM Immense—sustained hull contamination from the floating fuel, along with three pilot boats whose hulls and mooring lines were coated in oil.

The pilot boats are scheduled for drydocking to undergo a full cleaning process, while the other impacted vessels have delayed their departures.
