On May 8, the cargo ship Bremen was reported to have run aground at the Port of Silloth in Northern England. The incident took place at 12:10am local time as the vessel was arriving at the port.
Rescue operations are currently in progress to free the stranded vessel and mitigate any potential hazards arising from the grounding. Authorities are actively working to secure the safety of both the ship and the environment around the port.
This incident follows another recent grounding at Silloth Port, where a tanker became stuck and spilled molasses in February.
The Bremen is a general cargo vessel, flying the flag of Cyprus and operated by a Baltic shipping company. It had previously set sail from Klaipeda, Lithuania, on May 2.
