On October 21, a fire erupted in the engine room of the Malta-flagged products tanker, Med Atlantic. Fortunately, all 22 crew members aboard were safely rescued, with no reported injuries.

The Maritime Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was notified of the incident at 10:30 AM that morning. At the time of the fire, the tanker was situated in Singapore’s East Johor Strait. The MPA quickly responded by sending aid to the vessel and notifying relevant authorities.

An MPA patrol boat, three firefighting and rescue vessels from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), two Police Coast Guard boats, and two tugboats were dispatched to the location. All crew members were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

As a precaution, a warning has been issued to vessels in the area, and the MPA continues to broadcast alerts to passing ships. Authorities are maintaining a close watch on the situation, although the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Further investigation is expected.

The Med Atlantic, a chemical and products tanker built in 2011, is registered under Malta's flag. The ship measures 169 meters in length, 25 meters in width, and has a gross tonnage of 17,591. According to Marine Traffic, the vessel is currently located in the Singapore area.
