Holland America Line has reported a crew member missing, presumed to have fallen overboard from the Rotterdam cruise ship on April 12. This incident took place while the vessel was navigating the Florida Straits, south of Marathon, Florida, close to the Florida Keys, at the conclusion of a six-night Caribbean cruise.

The crew member was discovered missing after the ship arrived in Fort Lauderdale on April 13. A review of the ship's security footage indicated that the individual intentionally went overboard at approximately 9:45 p.m. on April 12.

Following the discovery, an extensive search and rescue operation was initiated, involving both marine and air resources from the U.S. Coast Guard. Holland America Line is also supporting the ongoing search efforts and providing assistance to the crew on board and the family of the missing crew member.

The Rotterdam docked in Fort Lauderdale as scheduled on Saturday, completing its Caribbean journey which started on April 7 and included stops in Belize, Costa Maya, and Cozumel. The ship is set to embark on its next journey, a 14-night transatlantic repositioning cruise from Fort Lauderdale to Rotterdam, Netherlands.
