Costa Cruises to Focus Heavily on Europe in 2024
In 2024, Costa Cruises will allocate the majority of its cruise capacity to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe, with over 55 percent of its operations concentrated in these regions, according to the Cruise Industry News Annual Report. The company will also maintain a notable presence in South America and Asia.
Most of Costa's fleet will be sailing in either the Mediterranean or Northern Europe throughout the year, including its largest and newest vessels, the Costa Smeralda and the Costa Toscana, each accommodating 5,224 passengers.
Costa’s operations in Asia will be led by the Costa Serena, which is the company’s only ship in the region. The vessel is set to offer year-round short cruises in the Far East and Southeast Asia, in partnership with local operators. The ship's schedule also marks Costa’s return to Hong Kong, with a fall program planned out of the port.
Following a period of strong growth in 2023, South America remains a key market for Costa Cruises. For the 2024-25 winter season, the company will deploy three ships to the region, including the Costa Pacifica, which will return to Brazil after a four-year hiatus. The Costa Favolosa and Costa Diadema will join the Pacifica, offering three- to nine-night cruises that include stops in Argentina and Uruguay.
The South American itineraries will represent over 12 percent of Costa’s overall capacity in 2024.
In addition to these primary regions, Costa will also operate cruises in the Middle East, the Caribbean, and the Atlantic Islands, contributing to a diverse set of global offerings for the year ahead.
