Container Ship Sky Light Collides with Two Vessels in Romania
On September 19, a 9,616-gross-ton container ship, the Sky Light, collided with two moored vessels at Constanta Port in Romania.
The incident occurred during a berthing maneuver at Berth 52, around 10:55am local time, and resulted in significant material damage to all three ships involved. Fortunately, no injuries or pollution were reported following the collision.
The Constanta Port Authority has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident. The inquiry will focus on whether technical malfunction, human error, or other circumstances led to the accident. In the meantime, efforts are concentrated on evaluating the extent of damage to the vessels.
Built in 1996, Sky Light is a container ship sailing under the flag of Belize. Data indicates that the ship departed from Ambarli Port, Turkey, on September 17 and is currently moored at Constanta Port in ballast condition.
