CMA CGM Welcomes New Vessel Escurial to Its Fleet
On January 7, French shipping giant CMA CGM announced the delivery of its latest vessel, the CMA CGM Escurial. Built by HD Hyundai Mipo in Ulsan, South Korea, the ship is the final addition to a series of ten vessels.
The Escurial departed the Hyundai Mipo shipyard on December 24, arriving in Shanghai, China, on December 28. After reaching its destination, the vessel joined the CNC CV8 service, which operates between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Measuring 204.29 meters in length and 29.6 meters in width, the CMA CGM Escurial boasts a capacity of approximately 2,000 TEUs. The series features enhanced hydrodynamic designs, resulting in a 15% reduction in fuel consumption compared to older models.
The vessels in this series were developed through a collaborative effort between French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Danish engineering firm Odense Marine Technique, and French containment systems company GTT.
The CMA CGM Escurial is part of the company’s broader fleet modernization initiative aimed at improving operational efficiency and environmental performance. CMA CGM is actively working toward its goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. This latest delivery underscores the company's commitment to sustainable innovation in maritime shipping.
