CMA CGM Acquires Four Ice-Class Container Ships for $120M
CMA CGM has finalized the acquisition of four ice-class wide beam container ships, originally built between 2016 and 2017, from Delphis, the container shipping division of Antwerp-based Compagnie Maritime Belge (CMB).
According to broker Braemar, the total purchase price for the four vessels is estimated at $120 million. The ships included in the deal are the 1,924 TEU sister vessels: Delphis Bothnia, Delphis Finland, Delphis Gdansk, and Delphis Riga.
“These ships, of gearless configuration, are fitted with 494 reefer plugs. A key feature is their 1A ice class rating, which enables them to navigate Baltic waters year-round,” analysts at Alphaliner highlighted in their latest weekly report.
Alphaliner also suggests that CMA CGM has recently acquired the 2,202 TEU Cape Monterey from Greek shipowner Cape Shipping for approximately $35 million.
