Carnival Cruise Line surprised young patients at Queensland Children’s Hospital with a festive visit from the Grinch, who joined Carnival’s team to distribute gifts, as revealed in a press release.

This heartwarming event is part of Carnival’s ongoing collaboration with the Children’s Hospital Foundation, a partnership that began in 2019. Throughout December, the Grinch will also join holiday celebrations aboard the Carnival Luminosa.

“It’s clear the Grinch’s heart has grown three sizes,” shared Kara Glamore, Carnival Cruise Line’s Vice President. “We were thrilled to have him team up with Carnival to bring holiday joy to the children and families at Queensland Children’s Hospital. The smiles we witnessed perfectly illustrate how we aim to give back to the Queensland community, which has embraced us so warmly.”

Funds raised through contributions from Carnival’s staff and passengers support the foundation’s programs, offering comfort to patients like six-year-old Layla Hall, a leukemia survivor. These funds help create play areas, provide craft kits, and organize special visits, all of which brighten the experience for children undergoing treatment.

“It was the toughest challenge we ever faced as a family,” said Devon Hall, Layla’s mother. “The Children’s Hospital Foundation brought us hope during our darkest moments. Their support transformed the hospital into a place of comfort rather than fear.”

Lyndsey Rice, CEO of the Children’s Hospital Foundation, added: “Every December, more than 9,000 children receive care at Queensland Children’s Hospital, with many traveling from remote areas for crucial treatment. For these families, Christmas can feel far away. We’re incredibly grateful to partners like Carnival, whose generosity helps us create magical festive moments in the hospital. Their support ensures joy and connection not only during the holidays but all year round.”
