The general cargo ship Amadeus Gold ran aground on December 9 while en route from Rotterdam to Odense, Denmark. Despite multiple salvage attempts, the vessel remains stuck.

The grounding occurred at approximately 2:30 AM CET in Odense Fjord. Two efforts to free the vessel have so far been unsuccessful, with the latest attempt taking place at 7:20 AM on December 10.

The first salvage effort was unsuccessful due to the tugboat lacking sufficient pulling power to free the ship. A second attempt was made, but the vessel remained firmly grounded.

According to a spokesperson from the Armed Forces Operations Center, a third attempt to refloat the vessel will be made later in the night during high tide, as higher water levels may improve the chances of success.

No pollution or environmental damage has been reported so far. The cause of the grounding is currently unknown, and an investigation into the incident is underway.

Authorities have stated that the Amadeus Gold will remain detained until its seaworthiness is confirmed by either the ship’s flag state or its classification society.
