28 Containers Lost as Crane Collapses Onto Cargo Ship

An incident on Sunday June 2nd at Marport, Turkey is reported to have seen a container ship, the Medkon Rize, lose 28 cargo containers overboard after a mobile crane collapsed onto the vessel's main deck. 

Twelve containers were subsequently recovered and searches are still underway for the remaining sixteen.

The Medkon Rize has a 652 TEU capacity and is an 8979-dwt cargo vessel sailing under the Panamanian flag. The registered owner is Medkon Rize Samai. The vessel departed from Rades Port, Tunisia on May 28th and is currently at the Port of Ambarli in Turkey.
