Yang Ming and Evergreen in Talks for Multiple Feeder Orders
Taiwan is the notable exception for early delivery slots in Asia. The island’s biggest shipbuilder, CSBC, still has the space to deliver ships as early as next year, and Taiwan’s top 2 lines, the Evergreen and Yang Ming, are in talks for a number of feeder ships at the yard, whose facilities include one of the world’s largest drydocks.
Alphaliner is reporting that the Yang Ming is looking for approximately 15 feeders, whilst Evergreen is seeking to contract for 6 total ships.
Alphaliner noted in its most recent weekly report: “despite a strong track record, Taiwan’s CSBC was one of the yards that did not really profit from the past years’ container ship order wave, since it could not match the pricing offered by some Chinese and Korean yards.”
