Trinidad & Tobago Police Investigate Death on BBC Singapore

Trinidad and Tobago police are investigating the death of a cook aboard the container ship BBC Singapore while it was docked at Port-of-Spain.

The incident began on July 13, around 7am local time, when the cook was seen intoxicated during BBC Singapore's departure from Suriname. The vessel arrived at Port-of-Spain on July 15, at approximately 3:30am. The following day, at about 4:30pm, the captain informed the vessel’s agent that the cook had been found unresponsive in his room.

The Trinidad and Tobago police promptly arrived at the scene and began their investigation. The cook was found deceased on his bed, with signs of violence to his face and right arm. His room was in disarray and appeared to have been ransacked. The police launched an investigation and ordered a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.

The BBC Singapore is a container ship registered under the Antigua-Barbuda flag. According to Maritime Traffic data, it is currently docked at Port-of-Spain.
