Two UK-based maritime law specialists, Tatham & Co and Sea Green Law, have officially merged to form a single 22-lawyer firm, which began operations on April 1, 2025.

The combined firm will continue under the Tatham & Co name and will be jointly led by senior partners Stephen Askins and James Hickland of Tatham & Co, along with Ted Graham from Sea Green Law.

This strategic merger aims to boost the firm’s capacity for handling larger and more complex contentious cases, while also broadening the scope of services offered to clients.

It strengthens the firm’s capabilities in dry shipping and sale of goods matters, building upon Tatham & Co’s well-established admiralty practice.

“We are delighted that Sea Green has agreed that the time is now right for us to join forces and take our combined maritime law expertise to the next stage. The merger creates synergies and efficiencies which will benefit both clients and the firm itself,” said Stephen Askins.

The newly combined team is expected to provide enhanced legal expertise and deeper bench strength across a wide range of maritime legal issues.
