Interzum 2025 Expects Stronger Cruise Industry Presence

Interzum 2025, set to take place from May 20-23 at Koelnmesse in Cologne, Germany, is anticipating greater participation from cruise line executives as interest from the maritime sector continues to grow.
Held biennially, the furniture production and interior design trade fair attracts furniture manufacturers, interior designers, architects, and industry professionals eager to explore the latest innovations and trends.
During a recent presentation about the upcoming event, Interzum Show Director Maik Fischer highlighted an increasing number of sourcing professionals from the ship, rail, automotive, and aviation industries attending the trade fair.
“(They have) spotted Interzum as a good sourcing platform,” Fischer noted. “Everyone who’s in charge of interior design: we do see (from) the cruise ship companies.”
He added, “If you’re a cruise ship brand and you want to know what is the latest, I would say that Interzum is probably the biggest sourcing platform and the biggest platform for new materials and new products that you will find in the world.”
Sustainability and Innovation Take Center Stage
According to a press release from Interzum, the 2025 edition will emphasize sustainable resource management, featuring biobased solutions and ways to extend materials' life cycles. Expert panels, research presentations, and market-ready solutions will be showcased at the trade fair’s trend stage and forums.
Increased Attendance and Industry Participation
Fischer noted that Interzum 2023 welcomed nearly 62,000 visitors from over 150 countries, and the 2025 event is expected to exceed that figure, with a stronger presence of key decision-makers.
With over 1,600 exhibitors from 60+ countries, the trade fair will span nine halls at Koelnmesse. Returning exhibitors include Swiss Chrono from Switzerland and Topan from Japan.
For the cruise industry, 191 exhibitors at Interzum 2025 will specifically cater to cruise ship interior design, solidifying the event’s role as a key sourcing platform for the sector.
