Stena Drilling, an Aberdeen-based affiliate of Sweden's Stena, has secured a contract to drill up to two wells offshore Morocco.
London-listed Energean has engaged the drillship Stena Forth, built in 2009, following Chariot's partnership in offshore North Africa.
This sixth-generation, dual-activity rig, which is currently in operation for Shell in the Mediterranean Sea near Egypt, will conduct an appraisal well on the Anchois field with a potential option to drill an additional well.
Specific financial details of the deal remain undisclosed. The drilling operations, managed by Energean, are set to begin in the third quarter of 2024 under the Lixus license.
