A tragic incident occurred on October 12, when a woman was found dead after falling overboard from the MSC Virtuosa as the ship sailed from the Channel Islands to Southampton.

The “man overboard” alarm was first sounded at 2:00 AM, prompting the ship to slow down while the crew launched an extensive search operation. Passengers reported that the search took place in the waters north of Las Casquets Rocks, west of Alderney.

Rescue efforts were quickly mobilized, including a French Navy helicopter and lifeboats from Alderney. Sadly, the woman was found deceased when recovered from the water. Her body was airlifted to a hospital in Tourlaville, Normandy.

MSC Cruises offered their heartfelt condolences to the passenger's family, with her identity being withheld to protect the privacy of the grieving relatives.

Both French and British authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, reviewing footage and interviewing witnesses to determine the events that led to this unfortunate tragedy.
