Royal Caribbean is celebrating a significant milestone this week—Icon of the Seas has officially reached its first anniversary. Over the past year, the world’s largest cruise ship has hosted 192,000 families, redefining family vacations on the high seas.

Launched as the first vessel in Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class, Icon of the Seas introduced groundbreaking features, including eight distinctive neighborhoods, the Ultimate Family Townhouse, the first water park at sea, an infinity pool suspended over the ocean, and a swim-up bar. Not to mention Rover, the ship’s beloved Chief Dog Officer.

But the adventure continues. In August 2025, Royal Caribbean will unveil its next Icon-class ship, Star of the Seas, departing from Port Canaveral (Orlando), Florida. Like its predecessor, Star will offer seven-night Caribbean sailings with stops at Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Guests can look forward to the return of iconic features such as the eight neighborhoods, over 40 dining and drink venues, the exhilarating Crown’s Edge, and brand-new entertainment, including Back to the Future: The Musical and the Lincoln Park Supper Club, inspired by Chicago’s renowned culinary scene.

If the past year is any indication, Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class ships are revolutionizing the cruise experience—and the best is yet to come.
