Doun Kisen Expands Bulk Carrier Fleet with Four New Orders
Japan's Doun Kisen has increased its bulk carrier orderbook in China, placing orders for four additional vessels.
According to multiple shipbroking sources, the diversified shipowner has returned to Nantong Xiangyu Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering to secure construction of two kamsarmax and two ultramax bulk carriers.
The new orders include 82,000 dwt kamsarmax vessels, each priced at approximately $37.3 million, as well as 63,500 dwt ultramax units, with a cost of around $35.3 million each. Delivery of all four vessels is scheduled for 2027.
This latest order follows a similar move by Doun Kisen last year, when the company booked comparable vessels at the same shipyard for delivery in 2025 and 2026.
Doun Kisen, which operates a fleet of around 140 vessels with an average age of six years, continues to expand its capacity as part of its long-term growth strategy. The company is listed on VesselsValue as one of the most active shipowners in the bulk carrier segment.
