CMA CGM Expands Fleet with Purchase of Four More Boxships

CMA CGM remains one of the most active buyers in the secondhand container ship market this year.
According to Alphaliner, the Rodolphe Saadé-led shipping giant has acquired another four vessels, adding to its growing fleet. The company has taken ownership of four 3,700 TEU container ships: CMA CGM Africa One, CMA CGM Africa Two, CMA CGM Africa Three, and CMA CGM Africa Four - which had been on long-term charter from Greece’s Chartworld.
The sale price for these 15-year-old vessels has not been disclosed.
Following this transaction, Chartworld’s containership fleet will be reduced to 10 vessels, ranging from 2,000 to 13,200 TEU.
Meanwhile, CMA CGM is edging closer to the 4 million TEU capacity milestone, a scale currently achieved only by Maersk and MSC in the global liner shipping sector.
