On October 3, the CMA CGM Balboa, a container ship operated by CMA CGM, collided with a dock at Barranquilla Port, Colombia, following a reported mechanical failure that caused the vessel to drift off course and strike port infrastructure.

The Balboa, a 22,914-gross-ton vessel built in 2007 and registered in Malta, was transporting 2,700 tons of cargo when the incident occurred.

The collision took place in the early hours of the morning, around 4:00 AM. According to reports, the ship experienced a mechanical malfunction, which resulted in its drifting and eventual impact with the dock.

Fortunately, no pollution or injuries to the crew were reported. However, the ship suffered damage, including a punctured hull and ballast tanks. Authorities are currently assessing the damage to determine whether the vessel will need to be dry-docked for repairs or can continue to its next port.
