On October 3rd, a maritime accident occurred when two bulk carriers, Ayed 1 and Bunun Ace, collided while navigating near the Pasalimani area along the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey.

According to the Turkey Directorate General of Coastal Safety, the vessels scraped against each other during the collision. Fortunately, the pilot captain aboard the Bunun Ace, with the help of a maneuvering tugboat, managed to keep the vessel on course, preventing it from drifting towards the Uskudar coast, a busy area filled with people. This swift action helped avoid what could have been a much more dangerous situation.

Both ships sustained material damage, but there were no casualties or environmental pollution reported as a result of the accident.

After the collision, the bulk carriers were safely towed to Istanbul Anchorage for further inspection and repairs.
