A marine claim management company reported that the bulk carrier Yangze 6 ran aground on July 16 while navigating through the Cape Fear River in North Carolina. The incident happened shortly after the vessel had departed from Wilmington, USA.

Four tug boats were quickly dispatched to assist the stranded vessel. With the combined efforts of the vessel’s crew and the tug boats, Yangze 6 was successfully refloated.

The Liberian-flagged bulk carrier returned to Wilmington the same day for an inspection. The cause of the grounding is still under investigation.

Built in 2014, Yangze 6 is owned and managed by Yangzijiang Shipping Pte Ltd, Singapore. According to Marine Traffic data, the vessel is loaded and is scheduled to arrive at Falmouth Port, United Kingdom, on July 29.
