Bulk Carrier Cargo Hold Fire Reported in Southampton, UK

The bulk carrier Clipper Kythira experienced a fire in its fifth cargo hold while docked in Southampton, UK, on Sunday, April 28.

Initial efforts by the vessel's crew to put out the fire were supported by the local Coastguard rescue team. Despite these efforts, reports from April 29 indicated that the fire was still active, with no further updates on its status.

A spokesperson from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service reported that temperatures inside the cargo hold have been dropping, based on external scans. 

Crew members remain on site, actively cooling the ship's hull to keep the situation under control. Authorities continue to monitor the fire closely as containment efforts proceed.
