U.S.-based dry bulk operator Pioneer Navigation has announced a series of leadership updates as the company continues its growth trajectory.

The Stamford-headquartered company—formed from the merger of Bahamas-based Pioneer Navigation and Atlas Shipping—has appointed Peter Bro as its new president.

Bro, who previously spent two decades with Lauritzen Bulkers, originally joined Pioneer Navigation in September 2023 as vice president of chartering. That role has now been taken over by Gaurav Sood.

“In his new role, he will guide the company into its next stage of growth,” Pioneer Navigation shared in a LinkedIn post.

Morten Gimand, who previously held the position of president, will transition into a new role as director and senior advisor. Gimand also formerly served as senior vice president at Atlas.

In another strategic hire, Ivan Santos has been brought on as vice president of operations. Santos brings prior experience from Eagle Bulk and Star Bulk, where he held senior operational roles following the two companies’ merger.

“He brings a strong track record in contract negotiation and execution in both start-ups and publicly listed companies,” the company said.

Founded in 2024, Pioneer Navigation operates a fleet across the handysize, ultramax, and kamsarmax segments.
