Dascher Expands Its Air & Sea Freight Division
Dachser is broadening the scope of its air and sea freight capabilities by introducing new scheduled Less-than-Container-Load (LCL) services that connect the port of Rotterdam with various Asian destinations.
Commencing in late 2023, the German logistics firm began rolling out weekly LCL export paths from Rotterdam to key ports including Shanghai, Nhava Sheva, and Dubai, with Dubai acting as a central hub for distributing goods to the Gulf States.
Moreover, LCL import routes from Shanghai and Shenzhen to Rotterdam have been established, with plans to unveil more connections throughout 2024. These services are supported by Dachser's unique system of consolidating shipments into company-owned containers, eliminating reliance on third-party loaders and enhancing efficiency at departure and arrival ports.
Dachser's method consolidates exports from Europe in their exclusive containers after collecting them via its extensive network and transporting them to a Container Freight Station (CFS) situated within a Dachser warehouse.
There, shipments are grouped with others in containers for transit to the target continent. Upon arrival, Dachser's Air & Sea Logistics offices take over, managing import processes and ensuring goods reach their final destinations.
Similarly, LCL imports to Europe are processed at the closest Dachser branch, where they are unpacked, cleared through customs, and delivered to the end customer using Dachser's distribution network.
"Because we manage the entire supply chain, we always know where the shipments are and when they will be shipped, which gives us sovereignty over the logistics process. In addition, the elimination of links ensures that goods get from source to market faster. This can help minimize inventory costs and can promote consumer satisfaction," stated Wilco Versteegh, managing director of Dachser Air & Sea Logistics Benelux, highlighting the efficiency and reliability of their integrated logistics solutions.
