Qatari LNG Carrier Orders Won by Hanwha Ocean

Qatar Energy is continuing to expand its fleet rapidly, having recently secured a deal to build 12 LNG carriers with Hanwha Ocean, a South Korean shipbuilder previously known as Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering. The financial details and timelines for these ships have not been disclosed yet.
In a similar vein, Samsung Heavy Industries, another prominent South Korean shipyard, clinched a contract last month to construct 15 gas carriers for Qatar Energy, valued at $3.44 billion. Additionally, in October of the previous year, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced it had secured a landmark $3.9 billion agreement to manufacture 17 LNG carriers for the same company.
Qatar Energy's strategy to augment its gas fleet includes placing orders with Chinese shipyards, indicating a global approach to its expansion efforts.
